BeerXML bug

It seems there's a bug in the BeerXML import code that I didn't find with the files I tested with but seems to affect BeerSmith files. I've now fixed the bug but, due to the approval process, I can't immediately give the updated version to you via the AppStore. If BeerXML import is absolutely critical to you and you can't wait a week or so - let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Hey - couple of other possible bugs I've run into with the Touch/iPhone app.

(1) the app seems to crash whenever I try to add a batch to a recipe (select recipe, then press the "+" button). THis may relate to the memory drain issue you mention in your post, but it is the only context in which I get a crash, so...

(2) the sync seems to be only working in one direction for me. I initially synced from my computer to my iPhone and everything seemed to come over fine. I added a recipe on the iPhone app and then synced again -- and it did not appear in the Mac app (1.8.1), even after multiple tries.

Finally, this is a requested feature, not a bug -- but since you've got inventory set up on the mobile app, why no "shopping" option? I'd love to go to the local homebrew shop with a recipe in hand and click a shopping button to tell me what ingredients I actually need to pick up based on what I have or don't have at home.

Cheers! I'm very excited to have this new app!!

Can you zip up and send me this folder on your Mac.

~/Library/Application Support/BeerAlchemy

I will use this to recreate your data on my device to see if I can recreate the crashes. I've got a couple of weird crashers like this that weren't seen by me or the beta testers that I'd like to sort out.

The address is support at kentplacesoftware.com

I've had one user mention that similar problems he had went away after he synced his iPhone with iTunes. Give that a whirl and see if it makes it better.

Shopping - for 1.0 I went with the minimum amount of functionality that had to be there to make the app work. Once 1.0 is solid I can move forward with new features (subject to memory constraints).

Steve - thanks for the info/tip. I synced the iPhone with iTunes, and the crashing problem seems to have gone away -- and the sync between the mobile and desktop apps seems to be working in both directions now, too. Thanks again. Cheers!

I'm attempting to import a BeerXML (tested files with both single and multiple recipes within XML file) generated from BeerSmith on a WinXP box. Everything seems fine until the actual upload, when BA crashes (returns to the Touch OS).

This functionality is critical to me, but I can wait for the patch.
