Another rejection...

This time for BeerAlchemy Viewer. Can you guess which icon Apple's claiming as their own?

All those icons (except the app icon) are in BeerAlchemy Touch which has been approved TWICE. Obviously the app reviewer couldn't be bothered to tell me which one....again.

Dear Steve,

Thank you for submitting Beer Alchemy Viewer to the App Store. We've reviewed Beer Alchemy Viewer and determined that we cannot post this version of your iPhone application to the App Store because of an Apple trademark image. We want to remind you of the importance of following Apple's posted Guidelines for Using Apple's Trademarks and Copyrights: .

If you believe that you can make the necessary changes so that Beer Alchemy Viewer does not infringe on Apple trademarks, we encourage you to do so and resubmit it for review.

Why am I suddenly reminded of a scene from “The Meaning of Life?”

> I wonder where that fish has gone.
> You did love it so.
> You looked after it like a son.
> And it went wherever I did go.
> Is it in the cupboard?
> Yes! Yes! No!…
> Wouldn’t you like to know?
> It was a lovely little fish.
> And it went wherever I did go.
> It’s behind the sofa!
> Where can that fish be?
> It is a most elusive fish!
> And it went wherever I did go.
> Ooooh, fishy, fishy, fishy fish!
> A-fish, a-fish, a-fish, a-fishy, ooooh.
> Ooooh, fishy, fishy, fishy fish!
> That went wherever I did go.

Well, I'd venture a guess at the Settings icon?

You could be right although that would be annoying as that icon is in BrewMath and all previous releases of BA so why they should decide it's a problem now is a mystery. It's nice to see consistency in the review process isn't it?

Steve,

It's sad to say, but it doesn't surprise me. You're in the same boat as the guys at Tapbots.

Convertbot was rejected in its 1.4 release for a similar looking icon.

It's kind of crazy.

I'm in a state of shock. Apple has actually replied to my email. This is a special day.

It's the settings icon.

Guess what? BeerAlchemy Touch 1.0.2, with the same offending icon, was just approved. So much for consistency.

I will however be changing the icon in 1.1 to avoid future problems and delays.
