First Universal Build

BeerAlchemy passed an important hurdle today - it's first build as a universal binary. Although it has to go the beta testers (one of whom is lucky enough to have an Intel mac), I hope that 1.1 will be the first release to run natively on both PowerPC and Intel Macs.

Don't you just hate it when that happens...

In the new version of BeerAlchemy there's a new feature that worked fine but needed about fifty lines of code and a whole third party framework to be built into the application. Last night I had a brainwave and realised I could do exactly the same with 4 lines of objective-C, 5 lines of embedded applescript and no framework.

Why don't the really cool ideas come first?

Getting there...

I'm just wrapping up work on the next major release of BeerAlchemy. As it stands the program is feature complete but needs a bit more work on the graphics and UI. The beta testers have already seen a 'work-in-progress' version of the program and I hope to get a new beta out to them in the next week or two.

Assuming there's no major hiccups on the way, I expect have the new version out in early March.

This update will, of course, be a free upgrade for those who have already bought a license.
